What is a Facility Manager?
They are the men and women behind the scenes who manage our workplaces, offices, and even where we unwind. Yet, too often, their work goes unnoticed despite the technical and operational qualities these individuals exhibit. They are responsible for managing activities related to users, as well as the properties and facilities of companies or organizations.
The Facility Manager is a key decision-maker, aiming to establish a functional and safe work facility with precise cost per activity.
Facility Managers facilitate the collective spaces where we live, work, or enjoy ourselves, keeping them safe, healthy, sustainable, and productive. In the case of external agents or facility management companies , the facility manager’s role is to contribute significantly to business profitability and the productivity and well-being of all who enter their doors. The facility manager’s role within companies links them as the one who must care for the building or other facility to ensure that the built environment and all supporting infrastructure meet the needs of the people operating in that environment, ensuring that we can keep the doors open, that we can keep the lights on, and if we can keep the facility running, there are many opportunities for facility managers to benefit any company or organization because it contributes to the process and achievement of company objectives in general, provides the tools for people to do their work, and can greatly influence their productivity.
OBJECTIVES
Facility Managers interact with all business areas, acting as a link between general management and the achievement of organizational objectives. Dividing their time between daily operations and special projects, facility managers plan strategies for managing services and processes that support core businesses. Their function is vital and enables everyone within an organization to perform their work as efficiently and effectively as possible. As expected, facility management is increasingly recognized as a major contributor to business success, especially now that we have world-class corporations.
